Too many clothes...
Is there really such a thing as having too many clothes? Ok, maybe...I don't have a problem I swear.... I keep expecting my friends to have an intervention for me at some point this semester due to not only the overwhelming amount of clothes I buy, but also because of the clothes currently exploding from my tiny dorm room closet. Maybe selecting a room with a walk in closet for next year was a bad idea...whoops! I just like to have options. No one likes to eat the same thing every day, why should I have to wear the same outfit twice in a month week? The only solace I have is knowing that I am CERTAINLY not alone with my situation. My roommate next year has probably the some amount or more, my mother has her own walk in closet at home, and I know some of you reading this post are plagued by the same issues. My habit wouldn't be too bad if it weren't supplemented by the places I shop. JCrew, Banana Republic, Urban Outfitters...Ugggh I could spend a paycheck in 30 minutes. At least I donate my clothes to charity when its time for a closet clean out. That makes up for my bad habit right? Just another day in the life...

Ahhhh I have the same problem! Except it's worse--not only do I buy too many clothes, I WEAR THE SAME OLD THINGS OVER AND OVER AGAIN!! Despite having a closet full of clothes, I cannot resist the urge to wear my same old favorites week after week after week. Everyone at Millsaps clearly thinks I only own five outfits.
ReplyDeleteThere is no such thing as too many clothes. The only thing I dislike about shopping is when I buy on an impulse and later realize I don't have the receipt anymore to return it- thank god for eBay!
ReplyDeleteI believe there is such a thing in too many clothes, but I would like to put a "disclaimer" on this statement. I agree that I don't want to repeat outfits- i LOVE options! however I have friends who have a plethora of skirts that look nearly identical, shoes that look nearly identical and tags attached to far too many never-been-worn tops and pants. That's what I define as too many clothes. BUT! If everything you have is unique and has a purpose (aka you've worn it at least once in the proper season) i say- there's no such thing as too many clothes:) -K.G.
ReplyDeleteI think I fall into Bonnie's category, so much so that I'm contemplating boxing up everything but the clothes that I actually wear regularly.
